VirtualLogix, the real-time virtualization company, has come out with a new version of its network infrastructure product, VLX for Network Infrastructure 2.0, which supports Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors. Users can run - and mix and match - commercial or proprietary 32- or 64-bit SMP or uniprocessor real-time operating systems like MontaVita Carrier Grade and VxWorks and general-purpose Red Hat or Unix simultaneously on the same multi-core chip, which is supposed to reduce the bill of materials, optimize performance and lower power consumption.
