The announcement comes as Univa UD officially launches Reliance as its cornerstone product for service-based management of application delivery environments.
RightScale announced RightScale Manager for MySQL Enterprise, an offering designed to make it easier for organizations to deploy MySQL databases in the Amazon Web Services cloud. Starting July 1, RightScale customers will receive the benefits of RightScale’s automation and scale-on-demand cloud management platform, coupled with MySQL Enterprise premium-level support for large database applications.
Q-layer announced that it has expanded its operation into the United States. Founded in 2005 in Belgium, the company has experienced great success in the European market with the Virtual Private Data Center software targeted at Service Providers. With the opening of the new office in Mountain View, CA, Q-layer also announced the worldwide appointment of Matthew Powell to president and chief executive officer. As President and CEO, Powell will provide strategic direction and management as Q-layer continues to establish itself as a high standing enabler of cloud computing.
Embotics announced its U.S. expansion with a new office in Charlotte and the appointment of U.S. Sales Director, Adam Kurtz. Cisco Systems has released new products and professional services, designed to assist customers with virtualization efforts for data center operational and energy efficiency. The company states that the new offerings make the virtual network an efficient platform for delivering data center services - accelerating, providing security, and orchestrating application delivery networks, servers, virtualized computing, and storage, while providing greater responsiveness and resource conservation.
DataCore announced that Alchemy Plus is using DataCore’s SANmelody solution to provide a hosted server virtualization farm environment for small businesses under a ‘Pay as You Use’ utility computing framework. Alchemy Plus’ data center is located in Dingwall in the Scottish Highlands. David Massey, Chief Technology Officer at Alchemy Plus, noted, ‘We wanted to bring the power and efficiencies of virtualization to smaller organizations that typically were only running a single server or a couple of servers at most. We knew in order to succeed that we would have to develop a model that was as cost effective as it was functionality rich, using the principles of utility computing ? a concept where the customer only pays for what is used.’
